Band
Band is an optional program on timetable for students who wish to further their musical development. The intermediate band class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 9:45 AM and is generally for grade 6 and 7 students with at least one year of experience on their instrument. The beginner band class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:45 to 10:30 AM and is generally for grade 5 students first starting out on their instrument. The band performances usually take place three times a year: in mid-December at a winter concert, in early May at the VSB “Night of Bands” Festival, and at the school year-end awards assembly in late June. Visit Mrs. Presley for details!
Choir
Choir is open to any student from grades 3-7 and rehearsals are on Mondays and Tuesdays from 12:30 – 1:00 with an occasional extra practice on any of the other days. Please visit Mrs. Presley for more information!
Gardening Club
Will begin after Spring Break. Any student is allowed to participate!
The Gardening Club will help take care of our fruit trees and our garden. Susan Adams and myself will be facilitating that program. We would like to inspire our gardening clubs about the possibilities of sustainability in our own backyard. We will build mini green houses, teach students how to can and pickle, paint sinage panels on each garden bed and bring in First Nations gardening practices. Want more information? Contact Ms. Fischer for more details!
Ms. Stevens is in-charge of our compost bins, since their is so much work involved in the maintenance of the bins. Students can learn the job of shifting compost and watching it change form. If students are interested in helping with our compost bins, please visit Ms. Stevens!
