Learn how to make your SMART Board more interactive and dynamic from our teacher-presenters who are certified SMART Board trainers and passionate about technology in the classroom.

Receipts will be sent to your email address directly after you pay. Please print out your receipt and keep it for your records.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
If you need to cancel your registration you will receive a refund of your conference registration fee minus a $10 administrative processing fee. This cancellation policy is valid up to February 1, 2012. After this date, refunds will be considered only in cases with extenuating circumstances.

Each hands-on workshop runs the full day. Please select one workshop.
Workshop A: Beginner 1 for the Primary Classroom
This workshop will introduce the basic features of SMART Notebook. You will learn how to build single page lessons and activities. Participants need no previous SMART Board experience.
Workshop B: Beginner 2 for the Primary Classroom
This workshop is delivered at a faster pace than Beginner 1. In addition to exploring the basics, you will be introduced to lesson ideas in a variety of curriculum areas. Participants should have a little experience using a SMART Board or have moderate computer skills.
Workshop C: Beginner for the Kindergarten Classroom
This workshop will introduce the basic features of SMART Notebook. You will build simple lessons and activities that support the unique needs of kindergarten. Participants need no previous SMART Board experience.
Workshop D: Next Step: Interactivity in the Kindergarten Classroom
In this workshop, we will show you how to design and create interactive teaching and learning experiences in various curriculum areas on the SMART Board for young children. Participants need experience with basic SMART Board skills or be tech savvy.
Workshop E: Beginner 1 for Grades 4-7
This workshop will introduce the basic features of SMART Notebook. You will learn how to build single page lessons and activities. Participants need no previous SMART Board experience.
Workshop F: Beginner 2 for Grades 4-7
This workshop is delivered at a faster pace than Beginner 1. In addition to exploring the basics, you will be introduced to lesson ideas in a variety of curriculum areas. Participants should have a little experience using a SMART Board or have moderate computer skills.
Workshop G: Next Step: Digital Unit Plans for Grades 4-8
Using our Unit Plan format, participants will learn how to digitize their favourite social studies, language arts or science units. We will highlight interactive activities and how to build your students’ critical thinking skills. Please bring a resource, like a textbook, that you wish to digitize. Participants need experience with basic SMART Board skills or be tech savvy.
Workshop H: Next Step: Student Presentations and Critical Thinking for Grades 4-8
For half the day, you will use our Student Presentation format to design a sample presentation. Learn the tips and tricks we teach to help students ‘be the teacher.’ Then see critical thinking templates and discover how to support higher order thinking skills in your lessons. Participants need experience with basic SMART Board skills or be tech savvy.
Workshop I: SMART Boards in the JUMP Math Classroom for Grades 4-7
Join a Vancouver JUMP Math mentor to discover how she uses the SMART Board to support JUMP. First, you will learn how to use the JUMP Teacher’s Guide. Then, you will learn how to use the SMART Notebook software to build a collection of bonus questions and make interactive lesson activities. Please bring your Teacher’s Guide and workbooks. Participants should have a little experience using a SMART Board or have moderate computer skills.
Workshop J: SMART Boards in the Foreign Language Classroom for Grades 8 – 12
Make your Foreign Language classes more digitally dynamic and engaging with SMART Board lessons. In the morning, we will focus on how to SMART Notebook software to create teacher led content. In the afternoon, we will share with you how your students can use the software to show their learning. Participants should have a little experience using a SMART Board or have moderate computer skills.
